To read today's piece, you’ll need to be a full-fledged paying member. Let us explain why: through our investment in our growing team, we believe we can bring back high-quality, independent local journalism — but it’s a huge (and expensive) undertaking, and we need your help.
Because we know January is a long month, we’ve sweetened the deal: take out a year’s membership of The Londoner, and we’ll give you two months completely free — and you’ll be supporting a small team working tirelessly to cover the most important stories in the capital. What's more, you'll get access to our entire back catalogue of members-only journalism, receive eight extra editions per month, and be able to come along to our fantastic members' events.
Hello, I’m Peter. I’ve been writing as a freelancer for The Londoner for a little while now. Maybe you read my dispatch from Tommy Robinson’s Unite the Kingdom rally back in September, or perhaps you came across my feature on how the Freemasons are courting a new generation of young Londoners. You may well have never read anything I’ve written, and are wondering what gives me the right to accost you in your inbox like this.
Whichever way, it’s nice to be able to properly introduce myself. The powers that be (Hannah) determined that I’m the latest full time addition to The Londoner team. Last Friday marked the end of my first full week, and I’m thrilled to finally get going and start working on some fantastic stories for 2026. There are some brilliant projects underway, and I can’t wait to share them with you.
London deserves great journalism. You can help make it happen.
You're halfway there, the rest of the story is behind this paywall. Join the Londoner for full access to local news that matters, just £8.95/month.
